Who doesn’t like celebrations, those claps and being appreciated once in a while. Since childhood we are used to waiting for such moments and cherish them in our own ways. But if despite being young, you are someone who has been dealing with physical and mental health issues for years now, this may not happen often. You might have the extra burden to compete with your age-mates and make a place for you.
From last six years Arun Dahiya is living in horrendous pain, after diagnosis. Once quite active, she now have mobility issues. To be honest, she was not physically or mentally much functional from last few years. But from last month, she started working as a primary teacher in a school governed by the central government . And THIS is a life changing event of her life.
She has to stand for six hours and be physically, mentally and emotionally involved with the little kids. She totally enjoys being surrounded by them but it’s hard with Fibromyalgia, Interstitial Cystitis and CFS to manage standing or sitting for long hours.
Finally, after almost ten years she is functionally active to this extent. No wonder it’s taking toll on her. She has to lie down in bed for hours and take extra pain medicines to recover. But for her one of the greatest achievements has to be that she managed to complete one whole month without any leave. It takes every bit , every inch of her strength and willpower to go daily and continue working, but she is doing it just by sheer determination. Though, it is important to add here, she doesn’t recommend anyone to push their body beyond limits to do something. Our health should be always our first priority.
But yes, today she is happy to achieve something that earlier thought was impossible. She doesn’t know how long she will be able to continue , but at the end of the day she understands she tried her best and fought a good battle.
